The original Black and White surfboards was started by Paul Fluin. After laminating for manufacturers throughout Cornwall for over 10 years, Paul decided to open a factory at Rock near Wadebridge.

By the end of 2003 Black and White Surfboards needed to expand and moved to the larger factory at Sandylands Farm. So in November of that year Paul was joined by Paul Waters ( Trinity Surf Designs) who has many years experience in the surfing industry and Black and White Surf Co Ltd was formed.

Early in 2008 Paul Waters took over the company, when Paul Fluin left to pursue other business interest with his finishing services. Paul still glasses for Black and White on a contract basis.

The future of Black and White, and the whole British surfboard manufacturing industry is at threat from cheap imported boards. We need to educate the British surfer to recognise that the surfboards manufactured in this country are among the very best in the world, the shapes are shapes that work in our waves, surfboards here are still made by craftsmen who have a passion for surfing. At Black and White every board is made with the anticipation of how well it will perform, not a day goes by without one of us picking up a new board and saying "I wouldn't mind trying this one"! Surfing has always been about expression and individuality how better to show that than by surfing a custom surfboard with a good local pedigree.
