As our address suggests, the factory is built inside
a huge "Pig Shed" not very glamorous, but ideal
for conversion to a purpose built factory! The building
was left empty for some years after the closure of the
original Sandylands Farm. Many of the buildings
are now used as industrial units, we are lucky to have
a stand alone site with fantastic views over Bodmin
Moor and the village of St Mabyn. The Factory
is situated in the middle of an old Iron Age Fortress,
the northern earth walls are still intact around the
entrance gate to our car park.

| As
Black and White owner Paul works
as custom shaper, fin setter and sander. Paul was
born and breed in Newquay and has
over 30 years of surfing experience, he shaped his
first board in 1979 and had a small part time factory
running in the 80's. After an 8 year gap, Paul returned
to the surf industry in the early 90's during which
time he had the fortune to meet and work with many
top shapers including former Town and Country's Jeff
Johnston and Californian Bill Stewart. Paul joined
Black and White in 2003 and is enjoying the opportunity
to shape more custom orders. Notes; "being
older and slower than I was, I now surf smaller waves
6' and under so my quiver is made to suit. I ride
either a 5'11" or 6'1" Trinity flying
pig (a step deck six channeled 2 1/2 fin)
or a 9' Trinity Mal for really small days. My favorite
Cornish breaks are N. Watergate and
Penhale. I have surfed extensively throughout Europe
and also surfed in Australia but having 4 children
limits my travels now a days!!

Simon Lockley

Poached from the industrial backwaters
of St Agnes, Simon has never done
a real days work in his life, even though he has sprayed
at numerous factories throughout Cornwall
for the past 20 years. Simon say's he came to work
for us because nobody recognises him "up here".
He has been surfing since he was
9 years old. Besides spraying Simon also works on
graphic design and is a talented, professional touring
guitar player (really useful when you need him to
spray) He is heavily involved in Celtic music,
speaks Cornish and has help bring
surfing and the distinct Cornish
identity to a wider audience. Check out his bands
site www.dalla.co.uk and view his graphics under lockleybrownvisuals
